Having spent an hour last Sunday 'spiking' the big lake with the big' crowbar' wading in half-way up my wellies it was like pulling the plug on a bath!
Despite massive amounts of water on top it was not getting to the field drains below and at the ‘manhole’ only a trickle was seen. Probing and finding the gravel layer over the field drains and punching lots of holes caused the lake to disappear in an hour!
To-day after torrents of rain - when these pictures were taken - the lake had still not come back though there are clearly other areas of concern. Basically our drains are not working as they should.
While normally I would have cancelled the weekend working party we are at last chance saloon time to do any serious rectification work SO TURN UP anyway. If we can't do any work you can always have a swim!
