The statistics are out for the Super 8s competitions and a mention is due to our U12 bowlers. Usama Naeem was the second most economical bowler of the day. Going for only 1 run per over. The third most economical bowler was Caleb Lang going for 2. Usama was third in the averages with an average of 3, and Saul Lang was fifth with an average of 5. Saul was also the second leading wicket taker with 3 in 3 games. To put this in context, there were 87 players bowled in the competition.
Our bowling economy was roughly equal with winners Wests, and was in the top half of the 11 teams. In fact my data analysis suggests we ranked fifth in the bowling, which is a very strong performance from the young team.
To keep things balanced I will also mention the batting. My analysis here ranks us tenth. If we had been playing pairs cricket, the fact we lost less wickets than 8 other teams would have helped us. And to be fair this is what we have talked about from the games last season, so its a good stat. The ranking of tenth however stems primarily from runs scored off the bat. 38 off 21 overs. Usama Naeem 13 not out, Blair Meikle 8 not out and Johhny Richardson 7 not out, being the stand out performers.
This is a young team, all eligible for U11s this year, and we have a very solid foundation.
