Sunday League
Stirling Cricket Club 1st X1 v East Kilbride Cricket Club 2nd X1 Sunday, April 29 2012 (14:03) at Stirling Cricket Club
East Kilbride Cricket Club 2nd X1 won toss and decided to bat
EKCC 115 all out in 24 overs (P Bocock 84 not out)
SCC 117 for 9 in 31.1 overs
Stirling Cricket Club 1st X1 Won By 1 wicket
Winning the toss and electing to bat proved to be disastrous when EKCC batsman struggled against Stirling CC bowlers. At one point EKCC was 22/6.
Thanks to Peter who batted at no.8 but rescued the team, blasted 84 runs in a quick session but he then soon run out of partners. Stewart was the only other batsman providing some resistance with 13 runs Rest of the team shared 18 runs.
Bowling attack however was superb. Stewart along with young Harris in the opening spell provided some good bowling. This bowling pressure luckily continued to build up slowly when Iftikhar provided the first break through (lbw) with Healy claiming 2 wickets in next over followed by John Hunter taking another wicket. Interest developed further when Peter & Alistair were brought in action. Peter claimed 3 wickets with Alistair taking one wicket forcing the opponents to 103/9 at one stage.
Stirling CC eventually managed the victory with some sensible batting by the last pair. However a good fight back from our boys and well done EKCC
Highlights of the match:
Peter scoring 84 not out + taking 3 wickets
Stewart scoring 13 runs + one run out + one catch and a very good spell of bowling
Healy taking 2 wickets in one over with some good display of fielding
Iftikhar, Johny and Allie taking one wicket each
