Emphatic win over local rivals

East London stretched their unbeaten start to five matches with a 48-7 win away at Millwall on Saturday (24 October).
The win leaves them in second place in Essex League 1 level with leaders Braintree on 24 points but slightly behind their rivals on the difference in points for and against.
The game at Millwall Park could hardly have started better for the home side who scored a converted try from the first move of the game.
East London were soon into their stride and had wiped out the Millwall lead within minutes, on their way to scoring seven tries in total. By half-time they had already achieved the bonus point for the number of tries scored.
Number eight Rob Herbert, fly-half Ryan Billinghurst and right wing Kwesi Scantlebury each scored two tries with the other from flanker Brian Kennedy. The remainder of the points came from the boot of Scantlebury and Billinghurst.
Coach Gary Pearmain said: “It is great to be able to keep the run going but we still have tough matches ahead. We are playing well and working hard in training.”
Next up for East London is the first Essex League 1 match under floodlights at the Memorial Ground in West Ham on Friday 6 November against bottom placed Kings Cross Steelers.
