Eastmoor under 12's regained a lot of pride at the weekend just falling short of reaching the Yorkshire challenge cup semi finals. After last weeks poor show the young dragons put every thing into the game after a great start with Lee Durber and man of the match Jack Dykes making the hard yards pushing back lock lane and putting them under pressure allowed good inter play from the half backs Robbie Powell
and Calum Hudson to create space for Dykes to crash over to give moor an early lead, Connor Hovell converting. 6-0 to the lower division team.
Moor again piled on the pressure forcing lane to make mistakes unfortunately the Dragons conceded a few penalties to piggy back lane up the field and after 18 tackles the visitors opened their account conversion missed 6-4.
The game picked up a level now with both teams running hard Thomas Wigglesworth was always a danger to Lock Lanes line. And all the team tackling well with no one wanting to make a mistake. Half time 6-4
Lock lane started off the better in the second half with their big forwards making good ground only kept at bay by the likes of top tackler Jordan Oxley and Coaches award winner Markus Robertson. Unfortunately the pressure told as lane crossed under the sticks.
On the restart a mistake gave lane the ball and piggy backs again gave the visitors good position for one of their big lads to carry over what seamed to be 6 dragons players to score out wide score now 6-14. It was looking like the flood gates were going to open but the Dragons super stars had other ideas and regained the ball and stared there come back with Jack Dykes nearly going the full length of the field only for a last gasp tackle stopping him Quick thinking Duebr then scooted to score game on 10-14 with 3 minutes left Lock lane kicked off deep only for Hudson to beat 3 players to hare away down the field and again a last gasp tackle prevented a score from the quick play the ball Moor caught lane off side. Moor now smelling blood worked hard and on the very last play of the game Robertson scooted to level the game 14 all the conversion which was kicked from wide out missed to target by millimeters. Extra time was to be played, again the Dragons started off the better and pressurised lanes defence time after time but they held firm, finger nails were getting shorter and shorter with the suspense. End of the first half of extra time 0-0 Second half of extra time was just the same as the first with both sets of teams not wanting to make any mistakes Eastmoor's man of steel was leading the Dragons defence by making tackle after tackle then it came lane managed to create the over lap and scored in the corner with 3 minutes to go conversion missed 18-14 to lane. Still the Dragons came back by some how lifting their already impressive defensive efforts by forcing lane into a rushed pass which Louis Andrews
intercepted last chance for moor one more play and then it happened the ref blew for the end of the game. All of Eastmoor's players each and every one ran their water to blood to water and every parent of the players should be proud to bursting with the efforts of these boys.
