The skipper gives an honest review of his sides diappointing loss on Saturday, in his latest Captains View.

Going into this game, we knew it was going to be a tough encounter, and that it was. Glasshoughton are on a good run at the moment, and will have been confident going into the match.

Our league position and form means that we have to up our game, because every team is going to work that bit harder to beat us and make a statement to the rest of the league.

The pitch was one of the worst I've played on recently, and to be honest it didn't suit our style of play one bit. Never the less, the pitch is the same for both teams so we can't use that as an excuse.

In terms of the game itself, it was a scrappy affair with not many chances, and it was a poor standard throughout.

Credit to Glasshoughton though, they played to their strengths and definitely worked harder than us in the first half.

We ended up going a goal down to a sloppy goal to concede, some miscommunication from a corner left them with a tap in.

I have to mention, nothing was given for a horrible challenge on Chris Lever, which he had to get surgery for over the weekend and we hope to have him back soon.

As you can imagine at half time, the players were all frustrated but we knew we were still well in the game whilst only 1-0 down.

The second half was pretty much the same as the first, apart from I think we put Glasshoughton under much more pressure, and had the majority of the possession.

We definitely missed Andy Cooper in midfield- he's our creative spark that makes things happen for us, and has been our main current form player.

There are two main chances that stand out for me, Luke Harrop's half chance which went just wide, and my chance at the end. I just couldn't get the ball to set which was so frustrating for me.

Although we did push to get back in the game, we didn't push with any real fight or urgency, which came back to haunt us.

Fair play to Glasshoughton, once they went 1-0 up they defended very well and kept their shape all game.

The one thing I can say about Saturday is how much the loss hurt the lads. We spoke in the changing room afterwards about how important it is to get back to winning ways as soon as possible.

It is important that we put this game behind us, and focus on getting three points on Saturday against one of our main promotion rivals, Yorkshire Amateurs.

See you at the game,
Sam Bradley (Club captain)
