Eagles captain Sam Bradley shares his thoughts on Tuesday's away loss, and looks forward to this Saturday's derby clash.

The game didn't get off to the best start when we were forced to play Liam Hudson in net due to Mark Bower getting injured in the warm up. Despite the loss full respect has to go to Liam for actually going in goal, considering he isn't a keeper- he made some decent saves and was unlucky to concede three.

We were happy with our first half display, we went into the break drawing having matched them for energy levels, and the lads put a shift in to try and keep it that way.

Defensively we were solid, and although Hall Road dominated possession, we thought we could potentially catch them on the break due to the pace and power we have in the side.

Andy Cooper's red card was a major turning point in the game, and if I'm honest I can't say the referee was in the wrong to dismiss him. With that being said, I do feel that a few decisions did go against us, so the officiating was inconsistent at best.

I feel as though Marcus Edwards could have had a penalty, fair enough I was quite far away from the incident but from where I was stood my initial reaction was that it was a foul. Marcus burnt the defender for pace and it didn't look like he would have been able to win the ball back without fouling from my position.

Prior to Andy getting sent off I'd say we had perhaps made slightly more chances than Hall Road, and we were getting the ball on the deck and playing some good football, positive signs from the squad.

Regardless of there being a few players missing for the game, I believe we still put in a good performance, it was just one of those days where you don't have any luck and nothing seems to fall for you. We need a bit of luck on our side in the coming weeks as recently we've not had many lucky breaks at all.

Looking ahead to Saturday, it's a massive game against Campion and all of the lads, myself included, are up for it. To my knowledge we will have a full strength squad available so that should give us a bit of a boost going into a crucial game.

See you at the game,
Sam Bradley (Club captain)
