The winger spoke to the club's media about his impressive start to the season.

Thompson is the current top goalscorer and gave his intake on the current accolade by saying, "When I signed for Eccleshill I wanted to add goals, as this has always been a strength of mine and playing in this team has helped me deliver my traits,

I never expected to be in this position but i feel good and I give a hundred percent whenever I'm on the pitch and following from the boys performance against Penistone,

There's a good buzz around the changing rooms and everything's looking good but we go game by game and do everything we can to win and get the 3 points."

Furthermore, sticking with Jake's overall time at the club - he explained fully his thoughts and feelings since joining Eccleshill United,

"I'm enjoying my football at Eccleshill at the minute and I've recently come into form scoring goals and it feels great, but that's down to the opportunities I'm given by the manager and also by the players as I wouldn't be in the positions I get in without their assists and hard work to help me create these chances," Stated the 19-Year Old.

Attention later turned to Thompson's last game he was involved in - Tadcaster Albion away in the County Cup. Jake suffered a harsh injury in the game which saw him grounded for ten or so minutes, and he discussed all on the incident,

"The injury was muscular - the physio team advised. They say my back went into some kind of spasm and I was not able to move in the moment. I was gutted as I knew you could not continue but I was also scared as I was unable to tell how long this would last and how long I'd be out for,

I would definitely class this as my first real injury as I have never had this happen to me or suffered any back pain in the past so wasn't sure how to deal with it at the time,

It's definitely not changed me as a player as everybody suffers setbacks and this only a small setback but it'll make me stronger and I'll come back the same player I've been and look to improve in every game as I always do," Jake explained.

Lastly, Jake scored a very good goal in that game prior to his injury (you can view the goal on the Tadcaster YouTube channel), and the pass through from Charlie Flaherty came from (roughly) 25-yards out - we couldn't end the interview without getting Jake's opinion on it,

"Charlie's a great player and one of the best passers of the ball I've played with, and he understands me as a player so there was only one outcome when he played the pass as I knew he'd find me from that and I was able to do the rest," Honestly spoke Thompson.

A great interview with Jake Thompson discussing his start to the season and covering his injury hit week - it's sure to see that Jake will be a fan's favourite in the coming months.

Finally, the club would like to thank the Tadcaster Albion physio, as well as our very own Beth Britton, Dom Smith and Ian Armstrong for helping Jake out to the best of their abilities, well done guys!
