Eccleshill United’s new signing Jassim Alali spoke to the club’s website after making his Eagles debut which resulted in him scoring.

After the opening day draw against Thackley Alali had his take on how he had settled in so far, and he gave some promising thoughts about his new life at Eccleshill United.

He said: “It's been good, I've been here for a couple of weeks. I kind of knew Dom Smith previously, so I got in touch with Regs (Sean Regan) through Dom, and then came down to training. It's been a good start as I say. I've been impressed since I got in as It’s a very professional setup and everything, so it's been great to get going with the season starting today.”

Furthermore, Alali shared his pathway to Eccleshill United with his previous clubs along the ways.

“I did my youth team kind of through York City when I was going through my youth, but then I’ve been in these leagues for years, I’ve been at Osset in the Evo-Stik and then spent a few years at Garforth Town and Parkgate FC, before moving onto here, so I can't wait to move onto the FA Cup next week,” he explained.

Knowing of Alali’s previous clubs, it was inevitable he was a wanted man when available, so when asked if there were any other teams after his signature he gave a truthful response.

Alali stated: “Yeah there was a couple, and I spent my time making a decision, but for me it was just about where I saw myself fitting, and Regs (Sean Regan) kind of made me feel like one of the group already, and the lads are great in the changing rooms, so it was a no-brainer when it came to making my decision.”

Jassim scored on his debut and put in a positive performance and told the club website what kind of player he is, as well as talking us through his goal.

“Very committed are probably the two words I'd sum myself up with, I like to get myself in and around the bodies and getting my foot stuck in, and as I say I don't mind chipping in with a goal or two every now and then. (Talking about his goal) We worked on set pieces in training through the week and it was just a case of making a nuisance of yourself in the box, and the ball fell to me and I was the first to react and put my foot at the end of it and got it into the back of the net,” he said.

Finally, Alali talked about if the goal improved his chances of sustaining a spot in the starting eleven.

The midfielder stated: “Hopefully, as I say it's just trying to fit in and everything. The lads have been spot on, so I know there’s competition for places and it's about fighting for your space.”
