Winger Jake Thompson was successfully named the November Player of The Month recently, and reflected on the accolade below.

Jake started the interview by giving his overall expression on the award, saying, "Receiving this means a lot to me. It's nice to be recognised for your hard work and efforts and this is a reward of that. I can't thank the supporters and everyone who voted enough for this. To be honest I was surprised when I was nominated because anyone in our team with the way we are all playing could've been selected but it's a great feeling and an even better one to win this."

Thompson's run to the accolade included an impressive match against Goole AFC - where he scored three goals, lifting him to the club's overall top goal scorer via the hattrick. He spoke about the contribution in an expected positive way.

"I've said it before in interviews. It's the best feeling ever when you score and it's been a great month for me personally. I love contributing to the team with goals and assists because that's my job and what the team & the manager expects from me. It helps when I'm playing with these boys because they're technically great footballers and give me the chance to express myself on the pitch," spoke the ninteen year-old.

One player that Jake has been electric with so far this season is fellow winger, Khurram Shazad. There's a very good camaraderie between the pair, and they both tend to find themselves assisting each other on the pitch. Thompson explained his partnership with Shazad, saying, "Khurram is a great mate of mine. I knew of him before I joined Eccleshill and a familiar face always makes it easier to settle in at a new club. He understands me both on and on the pitch and it's great to play with him because he brings out the best in me and I hope I do for him too,

We are very different players in the way we play because he can walk past players with his dribbling and skills whereas I rely on my pace a lot but that's what makes us both hard to handle as we offer something different & like to express ourselves whenever we are playing," Jake explained.

Jake further then added on his stand out moments from November; "A lot of stand out moments in November for me but obviously the main one was the hattrick. I love scoring and winning and that game was a massive confidence boost for me in many ways as I was allowed to isolate myself in a lot of one-v-one situations which I love. Again I must thank the boys because without them I can't get myself into them positions on the pitch. It was a great game for me that day for many different reasons as my family were also there to watch me which gives me a massive boost before we kick off knowing they are there to support me."

Finally, Thompson gave his intake on the hopes of himself and the squads going into a new month, a month that has already seen two postponements, and Jake returning to his former employers, Liversedge FC.

"My hopes for December is to maintain the big performances we are putting in as a team and keep getting the positive results we're getting because when we are playing like we are with our confidence levels as high as they are, I believe we are a very difficult side to beat for anybody in this league,

Going back to Liversedge was good for me because it was the one game I was looking forward to play this season as I wanted to show how much I've developed since I've been at Eccy, and I guess I had a point to prove in some ways but I was buzzing to get the result and perform in the manor we did. I've got good mates at Liversedge and there were no hard feelings after the result," Jake kindly finishing the interview.

Jake and The Eagles will be raring to go on Saturday against Bridlington Town - Eccleshill's second game this month.
