Eagles midfielder Jonny Irving stopped for a chat after the final whistle against Curzon Ashton, following his two goal haul.

The Eagles recorded their first win of pre-season in emphatic style on Saturday afternoon, after they defeated a Curzon Ashton Select XI 8-2.

Scorer of two of those goals Jonny Irving stopped after the game to analyse his performance, and his sides new system.

To begin with, Jonny discussed if the performance and win were exactly what The Eagles needed after a tough pre-season; "Yeah the result is good, but I don't think we started very well to be honest. The first half wasn't great, we needed to move the ball quicker and people weren't working hard enough."

"Sean (Regan) told us that at half time, and we came out and looked a lot better in the second half."

Next, Jonny talked about the new system Eccleshill deployed in the game, and how it helped him personally playing in the number 10 role;

"That's the role I want to play, obviously I'll put a shift in wherever I'm told to, but thats where I want to be. I want to link up with the strikers and try make things happen."

The two goals Jonny notched were the final topic of discussion, and speaking on getting his first goals of pre-season, he stated; "I've been looking for a goal, and been wanting to get on the scoresheet."

He added; "I feel a lot fitter now, the first couple of games I felt lethargic but at the moment I feel a lot more energetic around the box."

Eccleshill now turn their attention to the final game of pre-season, which will see them host a strong Brighouse Town side on Wednesday evening, and Jonny will want to replicate his performance in that game to keep his form going.
