See what this seasons POTS had to say about winning the award, and his sides season in general in this Q&A.

Versatile Eagles midfielder Jonny Irving scooped the Player Of The Season award, after a solid first full season at the club saw him find the back of the net 24 times, despite largely being played out of position.

The midfielder was delighted to have been voted as the POTS in the public Twitter poll, and he shared his thoughts on the award and what has been a stellar season for him personally, and for the club as a whole.

Q1. It’s been an incredible season which has seen the club gain promotion, how pleased are you to have achieved that?
A1. I’m over the moon just like the rest of the lads! It’s been a long hard season and to get the reward of promotion feels brilliant, and everyone at the club definitely deserves it.

Q2. When you first joined Eccleshill, was this always the aim for you and did you believe we could get it done?
A2. Definitely. When I signed, Sean and Adrian explained what targets the club had and promotion was the main one. After the strong finish at the end of last season, we all knew we could build on it this year and achieve promotion- and we’ve done exactly that!

Q3. You’ve played a key role this season with your goals and assists contributions, how happy are you with how you have personally performed?
A3. Yeah I’m really happy with my contribution, I would have definitely taken it at the start of season so I can’t complain. Hopefully I can build on that next season, and bring even more to the table as we go higher in the football pyramid.

Q4. How has it been for you transitioning to playing on either flank, as that is not your natural position but it has been the position you’ve played for most of the season?
A4. It’s not been too bad to be honest. I’m pretty versatile so I found it okay, I obviously prefer to be more central but I’m just happy being on the pitch helping the team out however I can, and thankfully I’ve been able to do that from out wide.

Q5. You had to miss the Play-Off final due to injury, how did you find that day not being able to play?
A5. It was awful! I was stood on the touchline kicking every ball with (Liam) Hudson, Jam (Jermaine Springer), (Ben) Hardy, Ben (McCready) and you guys. We just had to get behind the boys as much as possible, and it’s definitely more nerve racking when you’re watching than when you’re playing.

Q6. What would you say has been your personal highest and lowest points of the season?
A6. The lowest point of the season was probably seeing Scotty (Manning) break his leg. It’s not nice to see that happen to one of your pals and I really hope he recovers fully and is back playing when he’s ready because he’s a great player and a big character for us! The highest was 100% the full time whistle in the final. The celebrations were class!

Q7. You were voted Player of the season by the clubs fans, how proud are you of that achievement in your first full season at the club?
A7. I’m really happy, I can’t thank everyone enough for voting but personally I think the whole team deserves that award. Everyone’s played a really important part this season.

Q8. Finally, how excited are you for next season and what is your aim personally for the Premier Division?

Q8. I can’t wait to get going again in the Prem, my body definitely needs a rest first though. Hopefully I can just keep doing my bit to help out next year, we definitely won’t be there to just make the numbers up!

It has been a sparkling season for The Eagles on a whole, and Irving was definitely one of the standout performers in a team full of fantastic talents and big characters.

The midfielder claims this award, and will look to emulate his success this season as he and his side take on the NCEL Premier Division next season.
