Ryan Hargreaves had been pushing for a start in the last few weeks, and he got his start and first goal for the club verse Yorkshire Amateurs.

The Eagles came into the game with Yorkshire Amateurs without midfielders Jassim Alali and Nathan Woodward, which meant youngster Ryan Hargreaves got the chance to assert himself in the middle of the pitch. Hargreaves has just been limited to substitution appearances so far in his tenure at the club, with one start coming back in August - he spoke about the relishing opportunity of a start by saying; "Yeah obviously good. I think the last couple of weeks I've been plugging away and getting there. So, yeah not too bad."

When Ryan has come on previously as a sub, it's more been to see out the game - not quite game management, but along the same lines. When he has come on, he's had a more defensive stint - a stint that has seen him do well. Although it is clear to see, he is more of an attacker. He spoke about that side of his game.

"It is (attacking his strong suit), I think most of the time I've come on - I've just sat in that whole, in midfield. Assured things up a little bit, but when Coops (Andy Cooper) sits in there I can go forward more. That helps a little bit more - I've got good goals in me, I've always scored goals," stated the former Blackburn Rovers youth player.

Hargreaves mentioned Andy Cooper there, another experienced head made up that three in midfield, in Charlie Flaherty. Combined Cooper and Flaherty have over four-hundred Eccleshill United appearances. So, for Ryan who is just starting off at the club, it's a great deal to have them alongside him; "Yeah, It's class. They keep talking to me - they've been class since I started and kept me going. Obviously, it's hard being at the club when your on the bench - you just need to keep going, and yeah it's good to have them in there with me," explained Ryan.

Ryan briefly touched on his goal, and what was going through his head when he saw the ball get pulled back in front of goal, saying; "Yeah, good contact towards goal - it was a bit of swinger with my left foot. So, yeah just get contact on it really."

The talented youngster ended the interview by giving his thoughts on the Eagles next game away against Knaresborough Town, and whether his Napoleons Casino and Restaurant Man of The Match accolade is good enough to prompt another start, "Hopefully I've done enough to get a start next week and then it's up to me to keep my position there. So hopefully, I can do that. "
