Eccleshill United today welcome promotion-chasing Hemsworth Miners Welfare for the latest NCEL Premier Division game at the Mitton Group Stadium.
Sean Regan’s men head into the fixture with plenty of confidence after securing four wins in a row and the squad will be keen to extend that run of form to five games, continuing what has, so far, been an undefeated November.
Eccleshill United put in its best performance of the season during the previous outing which saw the team earn three points via an impressive 5-0 victory against Goole AFC in a game where the Eagles ran riot with some fantastic attacking football.
Adam Shaw continued to impress, scoring on his home debut which secured his third goal in as many games and that is a statistic he will be aiming to keep going at the weekend. With another strong squad available to Sean Regan, with only lengthy injuries keeping certain players away, Regan will have some tough choices to make in terms of his lineup.
One man that is likely to feature though is top goal scorer, Jake Thompson. The youngster has had an incredible season and proved too much to handle last weekend, scoring a hattrick, bumping his goal tally to six for the season.
Speaking of goal scorers, the Eagles will receive a major boost with the return of Luke Harrop this weekend who has finished the previous two seasons as the club’s leading goal scorer and has been in fine form in recent weeks.
However, whilst the goals provided a major talking point the clean sheet was equally as impressive with Ed Hall making his debut for the club and Sean Regan will now be forced to make a tough decision as to who starts in goal; a headache the Eagles boss will be more than happy to have.
The visitors also head into the game with confidence and will be aiming to bring an end to Eccleshill’s impressive mid-season form to an end as Hemsworth look to continue chasing a promotion.
Hemsworth travels to the game on the back of two wins in a row, including a tough 2-3 victory over Worksop Town last weekend and top scorer Bradley Dockerty will be hoping to get to double figures during the game, currently sitting on nine goals.
However, away from home the Wells haven’t been as strong, only managing to win two of the five away fixtures they have played this season, proving that life on the road isn’t always the easiest and that is something that Eccleshill will look to continue, attempting to turn the Mitton Group Stadium into a fortress.
With two attacking sides set to clash for the first time this season an exciting game is set as the difficult Winter period begins.
