The Eagles welcome Albion Sports to the Mitton Group Stadium this evening for what promises to be a thrilling local derby between two of Bradford’s top sides.
The original date of this game was meant to be played on the eighth of December, but the rescheduled game of that also got postponed. However, two postponements later and the two sides find themselves facing each other on a Wednesday night. Eccleshill United head into the fixture with more of a backbone after an impressive two-all draw with top five side, Maltby Main. Whereas Albion Sports sit sixteenth in the NCEL Premier Division and have lost their previous two games.
Recent signing Kamron Basi is one of nine current Eccleshill players who have also played for Albion Sports. It will also be an interesting game for Eccleshill United’s Aran Basi as well, who is set to play against his boyhood club for the second time in his career. Basi, who is a fair shout for Eccleshill United Player of The Year; spent sixteen years with Albion Sports and will be keen to get a result against his former club.
But Basi isn’t the only ex-Albion player within the ranks as Sam Bradley also spent time at the club. Jack Bentley, Matthew Mathers, Levi Maturine, Tom Dugdale, Nathan Woodward and current captain, Charlie Flaherty - have also played for the club before, with the latter winning the league with the club.
Throughout the season Albion's main threat has been Ombeni Ruhanduka, who does have a goal in him. Also, the club has former Bradford City and Aberdeen centre-half Kesi Omolokun - Kesi is a strong defender and a key asset in Kulwinder Sandhu's squad.
Kick-off at the Mitton Group Stadium is at 7:45 PM.
