Learn more about Eccleshill United's weekend opponents, Hall Road Rangers in this background piece.

Hall Road Rangers is based in Kingston Upon Hull, East Yorkshire. Last season Hall Road Rangers finished 19th in the NCEL Premier Division which last season was a non-relegation spot before the league downsized to 20 teams.

The club was founded in 1959 as a Sunday League team, formed by a man named Ted Richardson. They later switched to Saturday football, joining the East Riding County Cup. In 1968 they joined the Division Two of the Yorkshire League.

Hall Road Rangers has a few honours in their 59-year history, including winning the East Riding Senior Cup on 3 occasions, they also won the NCEL League Trophy, as recent as 2008. They were Division One winners of the NCEL in 2016.

Furthermore, the Rangers best FA Vase finish was reaching the third round in the 1999/2000 season. Also, reaching the first round qualifying for the FA Cup in 2007.

The club played at Dene Park in Dunswell until 2015 when they moved to Haworth Park in Hull. The ground has a capacity of 1,200, of which 250 is seated and 750 covered. Haworth Park 's record attendance (1,200) was a home friendly back in 1993 against now ‘big boys’ Manchester City.

Of course, the likes of David Silva, Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne would have been children at the time, but the less wealthy Manchester City did include some good players such as Niall Quinn, Uwe Rosler and Peter Beagrie.

As for former players, former Hull City goalkeeper Steve Wilson was once of Hall Road Rangers. Wilson’s stats for Hall Road Rangers were minimum but his stats for Hull were quite outstanding, playing more than 100 games for the Tigers.

Hall Road Rangers will prove to be tricky opponents for Eccleshill United on September 15. Eccleshill United would like to push onto a promotion hunt, whilst it seems Hall Road Rangers would respectively be happy with a push to mid-table.
