Club captain Sam Bradley spoke to the clubs media - post their defeat to Yorkshire Amateur, the centre-half had some honest words.

Firstly, Bradley gave his intake on his first thoughts after the defeat, saying, "It’s hard to take a 4-1 loss, I don’t think it was a 4-1 loss on paper, but I thought they deserved to win they’re a good side but I thought the decision in the first minute changed the game,"

"For me, it was a definite penalty, but not taking that away from Yorkshire Amateurs they were the better team and deserved to win but I thought a few decisions from the referee changed the game."

The skipper put in a great shift on a personal note but was reluctant on talking about himself, as he felt right to mention the game as a whole,

He said: "I thought I did okay (Bradley talking about his own game), for the free-kick, we shouldn’t be giving away sloppy free-kicks and obviously the penalty, it was a blatant penalty and we were then chasing the game and they managed to get two goals but we need to cut out the mistakes and move onto next week and get our heads up and move on."

Yorkshire Amateur have been familiar opponents to Eccleshill United of recent, and Bradley stated that much hadn't changed from their direct approach,

"Nothing really different to be fair their a good side who like to pass it and we like to pass it, but unfortunately I don’t think we got our game going as well as we have in previous games but we come here and they pass it like they always do and yeah they’ll be a force this season like we know, but if we want to compete we need to beat teams like this," mentioned the 26-year old.

Eccleshill United's next game is at home against Knaresborough Town, and Bradley explained his thoughts looking ahead to the game, stating, "It's a different challenge they’re a big physical side and they’ve got some good players but like you saw last season they came to us and we beat them 5-2 and then we went to them and we drew with them so we’re capable of beating them but it’ll be a tough game,"

Furthermore, the centre-back played alongside Ryan Canning for the first time this season and they proved to have continued on their strong partnership from the few times they've played with each other previously, also, this was the first time this season Aran Basi wasn't Bradley's partner in defence,

Sam discussed the partnership by saying, "It’s strange not playing with Aran (Basi) but listen (Ryan) Canning’s one of my mates as well and we get on, and we’re all good players at this club so whoever steps in can do the job and he had a good game did Canning to be fair so I can't say anything,"

"There’s a lot of places up for grabs every week and you got to do your best every week or you’re going to lose your place in the team it’s as simple as that." Lastly, the captain spoke about his time away in Dubai, and explained the reasoning for it, as well as how his fitness has been from the time away,

He said: "I’ll be honest it wasn’t really a holiday my missus is working out there so it wasn’t really a holiday but I was still training out there, still going to the gym and doing my lengths in the pool so I feel fit and I feel good this season and it doesn’t matter how I’m playing I want to get results and its as simple as that."

A great interview with the captain as always who had some strong words to say, however, like always there were positives to take out, and Eccleshill United will be hoping to keep the positives going into their next game - at the Mitton Group Stadium against Knaresborough Town.
