Little needs said about last week as I’m sure we’re all aware it was one of the darkest days in Northern history. One positive is that Nick Drew was quick to take up the challenge of coaching us to improvement. I’m sure all of you at training will agree that the drills he has used will quickly translate into effective performances on the pitch. Nick called the meeting on Tuesday and thanks to all who attended. We’ve a few points which need shared with everyone...
As a give-and-take relationship which many of you see yourselves having with Edinburgh Northern, here’s what I feel is provided:
A new coach, lighting (Accies or own generator), physio/sports therapist, Bunker Fitness Suite, wrestling (Meadowbank), games if available, reduction in match fees, end of season tours.
And what is expected of you in return:
Listen, training, communicate (on training and availability), speed recovery, get fitter, play hard, enjoy yourself.
As mentioned at the meeting, I do not see these as tasks beyond anyone in our squad. Let me know if you cannot make training. Ultimately if all you can manage is a game on Saturday then this helps the club greatly.
1st XV game against Leith
at home is our chance to get back on track with this league season and approach the mid-point with some respect for ourselves and from opposition. Nick has asked for a 12.30pm meet for discussions and areas to work on pre-warm up. Unfortunately, with only 9 remaining players available the 2nd XV fixture has been cancelled. This is a tragic situation as the loss of a 2nd XV to Northern would be like carving our own headstone. If you can make yourself available then we can promise you a game. Let’s see improvements here. Thank you to the lads available; we owe you one!
Cammie and S.E.M.E.N. are busy planning the Halloween party
for Saturday 26th October. Brilliant excuse to dress like idiots and enjoy whatever filthy drinks offers Jake can dream up!
Let’s drag ourselves out of this hole lads; big efforts from all over the coming weeks, please.
