Great to end the competitive season with a win, even if the final try glossed over what was a game which swung a few times either way in terms of momentum. I was concerned having not trained as a team in a long time but there was good spirits and the ability to get a win.
This weekend we have 3 touring teams from France and Holland. The Gentlemen of Northern will play in a 3-way tournament after the 1s/2s play RC Zwolle. As there is only one pitch available that first game will get underway at 11am with the Gents tournament following shortly after noon. Needless to say, this will be a big day for the club with a chance to form relationships with clubs who could potentially host us on tour or even return to us in future. Also, the obvious potential bar takings is vital before we become almost dormant through the late spring and summer. All help from 0930 onwards will be greatly appreciated. 6 Nations Round 4 on the TVs of course.
Training has been poorly attended recently becoming a wasted effort for the guys who travel down to turn around and leave again. To prevent this happening training will be cancelled for approximately a month, starting up again when some 7s training is required for April. Keep watch for this date and also any Saturday plans (touch in the park if enough interest).
The Annual Club Dinner will be held on Saturday 26th April. We’re on the hunt for any potential speakers so please contact myself or Joe Smith should you be able to recommend anyone. Before then we have the Tankards 7s and Ladies Race Night coinciding well with the Grand National on 5th April. Please get inviting friends, partners, mothers, sisters, daughters…for another top event.
