14/3/2014 - Weekly round-up from ENRFC Captain, Jason Thompson

Northerners,

A brilliant day at the Bunker on Saturday past demonstrating that a club of our humble status can open its doors to welcome friends from more than one club of foreign shores at once. With only one pitch and a slightly rushed schedule we still managed to put on top Northern hospitality before the tourists departed for Murrayfield. Big thanks to everyone involved and special thanks to Sandra, Irene and Mike for the wonderful international themed buffet, Brian for sorting out tickets, Jacob for a well run bar and Kevin who went beyond his usual booking refs and pitches to miss the Ireland game by organising taxis for the Dutch, heading off to the game with them and showing them around on Saturday night. Top efforts!

This week we have the return of Robinson College, Cambridge who remembered their trip to play our 2nd XV at Roseburn in 2011. It looks like numbers will be pretty tight so please don’t be letting the club down on another important day for the club. The final round of 6 Nations will be shown in full in the Bunker.

Michiel Smith has been approached to enter a team in The Hague Veterans 10s tournament on 30th August. The tournament starts at 11am. €250 per team to participate which includes food. There is a special hotel deal for €65 per room per night. Plans to fly in on Friday afternoon/evening and leave on Sunday. Looking for a minimum of 15 players and ideally you'll be 35+ (or not far off) on the date. Please let Michiel know if you're interested a.s.a.p.

Trianing will recommence on Tuesday 1st April as we aim to establish squads for upcoming 7s tournaments. There may be a couple of Saturday touch sessions before then so please watch out for further updates.

Enjoy the weekend! #bestclubever
