Egremont started the match with a bang as Tom Corkhill grabbed two wickets in the first over and Daniel Brennan grabbing a wicket in each of his first two overs. Brennan’s first wicket with his first ball and was granted by an outstanding catch from Richard Postlethwaite at cover. Gosforth then recovered in the middle overs with R Knowles and D Gatenby mixing good defence with some attacking shots and kept the scoreboard ticking over. Ben Gilmour, changed the momentum of the game by removing both batsmen (one clean bowled through the gate and the second to another great catch by Postlethwaite). It was then left to James Murphy to mop up the tail (all four cleaned bowled) to bring Gosforths innings to an end. 125 was a good recovery from 0 for 3 after 1.1 over s and 13 for 4 after four over.
Egremont opened with Shepherd and Murphy and set off at a comfortable pace of 3 per over mostly due to extras with some scoring shots played. Lewis Gribbin made the breakthrough having Shepherd caught at slip for 0. This brought Ben Gilmour to the wicket. The second wicket partnership was worth 60 runs, with shots from both batsmen all around the wicket. James Murphy eventually was bowled by Ellis Gribbin by one that kept low. Chris Woloszyn made 2 before falling and bring Graham Campbell to the wicket and his quick fire 21 brought victory to Egremont. Graham hit the winning runs, which left Ben high and dry on 49 not out. This capped a marvellous game for the new Egremont debutant.
