Egremont held the annual presentation on Saturday 15/11/14 in order to celebrate our 2014 season.

Egremonts annual presentation was held last night at Egremont market hall as players, supporters and sponsors all came together to celebrate the 2014 season, the evening was opened with a brief opening speech before the hog roast was served.

once the food was out of the way the presentation then begun with Chairman Sam Bailey once again welcoming everyone and thanking numerous people along with giving his own opinion on the season as a whole. When this was complete the first of the Awards were given out starting with the clubs county Honours going to 5 of our players 3 in the under 19's and 2 for the open age.

The next award to be given out was the club person of the year this award is choosen by the committee for that person in the club who goes that extra mile to aid in the running and success in the club, this years recipient of the trophy was our grounds man Paul Grundhill "ockle" for his continued efforts to ensuring we have an excellent and fully marked out playing surface to allow all our teams to play.

unfortunately Paul was unable to attend on the night so John Dixon picked up the trophy on his behalf.

The next award on the night to be given out was the chairmans award, as can be seen from the name this is an award picked by the chairman, this year the chairmans award went to Matthew Bewsher, Sam was quoted as selecting Matt as his winner because of this continued passion for Egremont and his desire to always attend Training, along with trying to play in every match he can.

After this the next award of the night was the unsung hero award, this is an award which speaks for its self it goes to a person who's efforts aren't always recognised, this year the award went to Ryan Barnes "bellsy" for his stellar attitude to the game and the club with Ryan only missing 2 games all season for the first team, the way he would always be helping on the sidelines on a second team game when he didnt have a first team game and also the way he helped with the under 16's when he could.

This was now the so called Club Awards handed out so it was then over to spud to talk about the second team's season, once his small speech was over it was then over to the awards the first of the second team was for top try scorer, this year it went to a young player for whom it was his first year in open age rugby, even with missing a couple of games this season through injury, this years top try scorer was Cameron Moore.

The next award for the second team was the most improved player this is obviously an award for a player who has shown improvement throughout the season, this years award went to a player who at the start of the season started off at hooker before being moved into the front row and on some occasions loose forward, he also made a number of appearances in the first team and as Spud put it he has a slight fetish for sausages, this years second team most improved player went to Luke Charlton.

Following on from this the next award for the second team was the coaches award, this award speaks for its self. It is an award picked by the coaches for a player they believe has excelled themselves, on this occasion the second team coaches player of the year went to second team captain Tony "Tuna" Hetherington.

it however didn't take long before Tony was up once again when he was the recipient of the next award of the night, the supporters player of the year. An award picked by our very knowledgeable supporters who select who they think was the best player of the season.

following on from this the next two awards for the second team went to the same player, these two awards are most probably seen the most prestigious awards of the presentation the players player and player of the year, on this occasion the award went to the young player who had already received the award for top try scorer, the recipient of second teams player of the year and players player was Cameron Moore, this now concluded the second teams section of the presentation, never the less there was one more award left to hand out before the first team presentation.

This award is for young player of the year, this is an award which can go to any player in the open age under the age of 21, this year the award went to a young player whom only joined the club this year after playing his youth rugby elsewhere, he originally came as a hooker however ended up playing the majority of the season at loose forwards, this years youth player of the year went to Matthew Henson.

It was now time for the first team, so firstly coach Colin Armstrong gave a quick speech about his thoughts for the season before Daemon Ireland took to the Microphone in order to conduct the awards.

Yet again the first award of the night was for top try scorer, this was actually a very tight contest in the end and on this occasion it was the recently awarded young player of the year Matthew Henson.

The next award was the for the most improved player this once again went to a very young player who plays in the toughest positions in Rugby league, at the age of only 18 playing prop this years most improved first team player went to Brad Hailes.

Following on from this it was a hatrick of awards for scrum half Paul Corkhill who after an outstanding season picked up the coaches player of the year, supporters player and players player awards. before the final award of the night was handed out which was player of the year, this as always is selected by opposition coaches and on this occasion it went to Egremont's captain Daniel Telford.

This was the award giving concluded however the two captains where then invited up to give there thoughts of the season, before a number of personnel were given a small token of gratitude for there efforts behind the scenes this year. The final words of the Presentation Then went to Former England International Captain and former Egremont player Robert Purdham who spoke very deep and hard hitting words to the players of which hopefully hit home.

This was now the formalities over so it was now over to former West End and Disney star Brad Kavanagh to provide the entertainment for the night along with the raffle.

a special thanks has to go out to all involved in the organisation of the presentation this year for a wonderful night as always, along with every one who has played a part in this season from the comittee, supporters, sponsors and players, hopefully 2015 will be a bit better so on a final word.
