The Rangers made the short trip to Bleach Green home of their Rugby Union neighbours for the NCL Division 1 clash against high flying Hunslet Warriors.
This game turned out to be a Pulsating encounter with the lead changing hands several times.
The Warriors were off the bus early and gained an advantage with a try for 13 Caldon Bravo which was goaled by McClelland 0-6 the Mont responded on 14 minutes slick handling by Crellin and Murphy putting speedy winger Barnes in the corner 4-6 six minutes later the Mont went over again with young Jack Stainton going over 8-6 to the Home Side.
Hunslet re-grouped and really took the game to the Rangers young Side and were duly rewarded with a try on 28 mins for Gale which was converted 8-12.
Egremont responded again with impressive full back Reece Davies ducking under the Hunslet defender's to score, again Egremont failed with the conversion, a late penalty was missed by the Warriors and the sides went in level at Half Time.
Hunslet came out for the 2nd half fired up and their massive forwards drove the mont back to their own line which culminated in Raynor beating some weak tackles to score 12-16.
The home side replied 4 minutes later slick handling by Ben Walker put Stainton over for his 2nd and Egremont's 4th try again unconverted 16-16.
This Hunslet side were not prepared to lie down and some excellent play put Dawson over by the posts wheelhouse converted 16-22.
Hunslet looked the likely winners of this contest now but this Indomitable Mont side are not to be underestimated, driven on by Davies, Murphy and the hard working Kevin Brown dragged themselves off the floor and got their reward on 66 minutes, with a swivel of the hips and a deft sidestep International Full back Reece Davies left 3 defenders dumbfounded to score Murphy converted 22-22.
Discipline was costing Hunslet now with Prop dawson sin binned for tripping.
The Mont piled on the pressure and Murphy put up a giant bomb which was allowed to bounce into the hands of Leon (smokin joe) Crellin who galloped over to the delight of the Home crowd, Murphy converted 28-22.
On 75 minutes came the Coup De Grais with some super handling from James McDonald put rising star Jack Stainton away for his hat trick and the Mont's final try. Final score 32-22.
Official MOM was Daniel Telford but he must have been closely run by Peter Murphy, Kevin Brown and that slick hipped silky sidestepper Reece Davies.
Overall a great win for this Promotion seeking sideagainst very dangerous opponents.
The Mont are back on the road next week Stanningley away.
