My name is Shane Mauger and I will be the Auskick Coordinator for the 2012 season
The start of the Auskick season is only a few short weeks away and we are all very excited that football is back for 2012.
Attached are hopefully answers to the most commonly asked questions by families wishing to become involved with Auskick at the Ellenbrook Dockers.
Age Groups and Training Times:
Auskick is split into 2 training groups split by age. The older kids (Year 3’s) are set to train on a Friday night to begin to get them used to full training the following year.
Age groups are set by the year that the kids are at school, not by age to allow easier splits in the groups and to have the kids play with their friends.
Friday Afternoon at Woodlake Oval
Year 3 (Turning or already 8) 5.00pm – 6.30pm
Saturday Mornings at Woodlake Oval
Pre-Primary (Turning or already 5 years) 9.00am - 10.00am (Giants)
Year 1 (Turning or already 6 years) 9.00am - 10.30am (Pirates)
Year 2 (Turning or already 7) 9.00am - 10.30am (Jets)
Training Dates:
Unlike last year we will begin the season after Easter to ensure that there is only one break during the season.
Year 3’s
Every Friday: Starting 27th April and last training before break on 6th July
School Holiday Break: 13th and 20th July
Every Friday: Resume 27th July and last training night on 17th August
Pre-Primary to Year 2
Every Saturday: Starting 28th April and last training before break on 7th July
School Holiday Break: 14th and 21st July
Every Friday: Resume 28th July and last training night on 18th August
Registration
Please go to the Auskick Website at www.aflauskick.com.au, go the ‘Register’ tab and follow the instructions.
If you don’t feel confident, please come to the club registration day on the 26th February 2012 at Coolamon Oval in Ellenbrook from 10.00am – 2.00pm and fill out a registration form on the day.
Fees
Fees this year are $80.00. Please bring cash or credit card to the registration day.
If you are unable to attend the registration day, we will accept payment at training however we can only accept cash and only the correct change.
There are a limited number of bags available on a first come, first serve basis so to ensure that your child receives one I would recommend that you attend the registration day.
We can order bags after we run out but it will just mean that your child will have to wait for a little while for their Auskick Training Bag.
Coaches
We are always seeking interested Mum’s and Dad’s to help us with the coaching.
You don’t have to have been a past AFL player but be willing to assist and help out on the day. The kids love it when their parents are involved and let’s be honest, in a few years they won’t want us around so let’s make the most of it while they still think that we are great.
As a number of people are now fly in, fly out or shift workers it is also very helpful that you come and help when you are around. You are not obligated to attend every week as we all have some weekends where we have other commitments (I have three days when I have a university course that I have to attend for work) so if we have many people who are able to give a number of days it makes it easier on all of us.
We need new coaches for the Pre-Primary group and new coaches for all other grades. People who have kids attending on Friday afternoons would be a big help as well.
The club will pay for you to attend a coaching accreditation course if you would like a bit of confidence in helping the kids or come down and we will help organise a plan with the parent coaches on the day.
If you are interested please send me an email at auskick@ellenbrookdockers.com. We will getting the coaches together in a few weeks to give an overview of the season and help get everyone started
