Code of Conduct

ELLINGHAM AND RINGWOOD RUGBY CLUB

DISCIPLINE POLICY

1.The club encourages players to play within the laws and spirit of the game and will condemn bad language or bad behaviour from players, spectators or anyone involved in the club.

2.If a player is sent off in a match, a Disciplinary Hearing will be held as soon as possible and the player will not be allowed to play until after the hearing.

•The player will be given the opportunity to attend and may be represented if they so wish.
•The Disciplinary Panel will be organised by the Club Secretary and will comprise three Committee members who do not have a conflict of interest eg as a coach or relative of the player.
•The panel will hear the case, considering any information that can be obtained about the incident from the referee, the coach, the player and any other responsible person that witnessed the incident.
•The panel will agree a course of action, which will normally be a minimum of a 4 weeks ban.
•The Chairman will then notify the player and the Hampshire Rugby Football Union.

3.If a player is sent off they will also have to attend a hearing at the Hampshire Rugby Football Union and at that hearing the action taken by the club’s Disciplinary Committee will be taken in to consideration.

MINI AND JUNIOR SECTION

1.If a referee cautions a mini or junior player for foul play, the coach will normally replace the player. This will have the effect of defusing a “flash point”, will give the coach an opportunity of discussing the incident with the player and will remove the possibility of the player being sent off.

2.If a player is sent off in a match, a Disciplinary Hearing will be held as soon as possible and the player will not be allowed to play until after the hearing.

•Having regard to the age of the player, it will not always be necessary for the player to attend, although they and a parent or representative may if they wish.
•The Disciplinary Panel will be organised by the Chairman of the Mini and Junior Section and will comprise three Committee members who do not have a conflict of interest eg as a coach, parent or relative of the player.
•The panel will hear the case, considering any information that can be obtained about the incident from the referee, the coach, the player and any other responsible person that witnessed the incident.
•The panel will agree a course of action, which will normally be a minimum of a 4 weeks ban.
•The Chairman will then notify the player and his parents or guardians of the decision and will also notify the club’s Secretary who will notify the Hampshire Rugby Football Union.

3.If a mini or junior player is sent off they may also have to attend a hearing at the Hampshire Rugby Football Union and at that hearing the action taken by the club’s Disciplinary Committee will be taken in to consideration.
