Our 1st XV scored thirteen tries against Trojans II on Saturday and moved to the top of Hampshire Division 1, but they had to work hard in the first half against a strong Trojans pack.
The game was played in beautiful sunshine in front of a big crowd on carnival day in Ringwood, but it was Trojans that took the lead when they scored a try from a catch and drive move at the line out that they converted. Our number 8 Stuart Pearce and full back Chris Frost then scored tries, but Trojans kicked a penalty to level the scores at 10-10. We came back strongly with tries from their wing three quarters Matt Raybould and Dean Young and flank forward Jack White with centre Josh Butcher adding two conversions. Trojans scored a further converted try to make it 29-17 at the break.
In the second half we were rampant. Our wing three quarter Dean Young (pictured) scored a further two tries to complete his hat trick, with tries also being scored by lock forwards Duncan Soden and Toby Wolfenden, scrum half Dave Jones, full back Chris Frost, flank forward Garrett Avis and number 8 Stuart Pearce, with Josh Butcher kicking all ten conversions. Trojans replied with one try mid way through the half to make the final score 87-22.
