Ellon started brightly, and after a couple of phases in Deesides 22, a break down the touch line, ellon went in at the corner, unfortunately his foot was adjudged to have gone into touch. Keeping Deeside in their own half, Ellon eventually went over and converted (0-7). Deeside began to get more into the game and only some stout defending kept them out. For the second week in a row Ellon were dominating the line out, our ball and theirs, from a stolen line out ball Ellon went crashing over the line and converted (0-14). confidence was high and this lead to complacency and Deeside were getting more and more into the game and after some forward pressure together with some good back play Deeside scored (5-14). This gave Deeside confidence and after some pressure in our 22 they scored (10-14). Ellon took the initiative from the restart and scored quite quickly (10-21). After some toing and froing from both sides it was half time.
The start of the second half Deeside came out the stronger, and after some good D from Ellon, Deeside eventually scored (15-21). This score was what Ellon needed to kick start the second half, a break from our 22 with some good handling from Ellon was stopped by a tackle that was penalised by the referee but was deemed not high enough to be classed as a spear tackle? Unfortunately this resulted in Jack Munro having to be stretchered off, as a precautionary measure, thankfully nothing too serious, other than severe bruising to his neck. From the resultant penalty, Ellon took a good line out ball and drove towards the line and scored (15-28). Deesides indiscipline cost them two yellow cards with one for another dubious tackle. Ellon responded with controlled aggression and scored two further tries (15-38).
All in all credit to the Ellon players for responding well and controlling their aggresion after the extended break due to jack's injury.
Jack has been given the all clear from the hospital and is hoping to be at rugby camp tomorrow (no contact allowed) Mothers instructions not the Doctors. Doctor reckons he will be too sore anyway.
