Youth section success in the drizzle!

A successful weekend in the rain sees the u15's win at Witley in a friendly and the u13's win at Grayswood in the league.

With match play looking unlikely last weekend, the u15's went to Witley Friday evening to play a friendly. Following winning the toss, Elstead put Witley into bat in the drizzle, a solid showing took the score to 103 for 6 off their allotted 20 overs, the highlight for Elstead being the bowling of Franky - 2 wickets for 17 runs off 4 overs, and David, 3 wickets for 8 runs off 2 overs.

Solid batting by Captain Jesse (18), followed by swashbuckling performances by Franky (33 not out) and Joe (26) saw us home with 2 balls to spare finishing on 104 for 5 off 19.4 overs to give us a deserved first victory this season. Plaudits also go to Luca for a tight performance as wicky, and a solid debut for Matt in his first match for the club.

Not to be upstaged, on Sunday morning, again in the drizzle, the u13's lost the toss and were put into bat at Grayswood in a league match. Solid batting from the Elstead top 4 in the order saw us reap 14 boundaries, including 2 6's from Charlie O to give us a season best total of 141 for 3 off 20 overs. Highlights included the batting of Max (27 not out), Harry (26 not out), Charlie O (25 not out), and Charlie W (21).

Grayswood were to prove to be no pushover, and a spate of wides and no balls saw 43 extras added to the board. However, Elstead, with only 10 men, which included Will, promoted up from the u11's and Josh & Thomas (including a wicket for him) making debut performances, Grayshott came up short, ending on 124 for 5 off 20 overs, despite a blistering 14 off the final over which included 2 6's. A game played in great spirit by both sides also marked Elstead u13's first win of the season.

Well done to all!
