A strong bowling and batting performance not quite enough to take the Ones to victory.
After another damp week the Elstead pitch looked to be a good one to bowl on - and so the Ones proved upon winning the toss and putting Tilford into bat. Two wickets fell in the first three overs - one to Wych (1/43) and one to Jim (3/28) - leaving Tilford 2-2. Jake Austin came in and road his luck - playing and missing a few times whilst Wilson was dropped at the other end - but displayed wonderful timing and an excellent eye as he crashed a rapid 70 odd contributing the majority of an 80 run partnership with Wilson. When he was finally out to Dom (3/44) the Tilford innings stalled somewhat, although some lusty blows from Wilson junior took the visitors to 174 before he was dismissed by DT, who bowled well at the death for two wickets.
The Ones reply started well with the young opening pair of Jim (24) and Chris (17) before Drayts (80) came in and batted fluently mixing time with aggression to take the Ones to within 45 of victory with ten overs remaining. However, despite the relatively easy target, panic seemed to set in among the Ones bats after Sunny (10) was out with three wickets falling cheaply as players looked to pepper the boundaries rather than picking up the singles the situation required. With three overs remaining Drayts was finally out and with him went the last chance of victory, meaning the ones had managed to snatch a losing draw from the jaws of defeat.
