Sustained pressure pays off for Development.
Ely Development came into this game in hight spirits following their win in the Cup away at EC Two side Sawston. However the first fifteen minutes were fairly incident free with both sides looking lethargic in attack and solid in defence. Ely eventually made the breakthrough when a move started on the right flank by the forwards was finished off on the left wing by fullback Tim Mills. That was it for the first half so it was imperative that Development started the second half more positively, which is exactly what Maxwell Mackay did, catching the restart and running back forty yards before offloading to Harry Rogerson who scored for the second week in succession. Peter Forteath converted. Ely then seemed to rest on their laurels and allowed the visitors to score a try against the run of play. This timely reminder woke the home team who then dominated possession before Ed Fahy broke through to score. The points were secured when Maxwell Mackay rounded most of the St Neots back line before scoring under the posts. Converted again by Peter Forteath. Final score Ely Development 29 St Neots Twos 5.
