U16s SUFFER AFTER THE INTERVAL
CHESHUNT U16s: 45 - ENFIELD IGNATIANS U16s: 5
Study commitments and calls elsewhere led to the U16s sending a weakened squad to Cheshunt, and the Club is grateful to the opposition as regards making up the numbers, which clearly was a far from ideal scenario.
Despite not firing on all cylinders, the U16s were the authors of a spirited first-half performance and they were very much in touch at the break after trailing by single score (10-5) against a side currently lying second in Division One.
The second-half was a different matter as Cheshunt piled on the pressure and, with the visiting blue and golds finding it increasingly hard to stem the tide, the Hertfordshire side pulled away and were handsome winners.
Coach Colin Pennicott said: "I think it was important to give the boys a run-out and we held our own in the first-half before tiring in the second-half. A number of players showed great commitment to the cause, including Ryan Loo, Anthony Cabaco, Matteo Ferrari and Dimitris Ndanaj."
