In truth the club and players knew this was coming for a week or so, but on 19th November Paul West was due to be suspended for one match for accumulating five bookings.
Due to an administrative error this was not spotted in time. Our Manager Lyndon Buckwell was not informed and West unknowingly played in the game. The League have now removed the three points we earned that day in our 2-1 win over Croydon.
These are the first points we've had deducted since 1965 which was quite a good run when you see that this sort of thing happens to quite a few clubs each season.
The new date for West's suspension will be advised shortly.
In the meantime and despite our win yesterday the club has dropped two places to fourteenth in the League table. Had we lost yesterday it would have been seventeenth.
