Use Netball to Enrich Lives......

The Netball Development Trust supports children from the poorest areas of Uganda and India by providing netball coaching to primary school kids...

Helen Lloyd who plays for Ambleside in the Coventry & Warwickshire League sent us this note:

I recently had the opportunity to go to India with recently founded charity The Netball Development Trust, which aims to enrich the lives of young people in some of the poorest areas in the world by helping them to discover the joys of playing netball.

We spent 2 weeks in a rural area of India called Bhubaneshwar, and worked with 4 schools coaching over 500 children during our time there, ending with a fantastic tournament between the schools. We were also lucky enough to experience the wonderful culture that India has to offer.

I am emailing you on behalf of NDT, as they are currently organising a tour to Uganda in June and India in November. If you know of anyone in you club who may be interested in either tour, please forward this to them as it is such a fantastic experience and a real eye opener! Below is a letter from one of NDT's trustees, and for any more info please feel free to either email me or go to the website!

and here is the letter she included from the trustee:

Have you ever fancied coaching netball overseas and working with underprivileged children? Living in amongst them and experiencing real Ugandan life?

The chance is yours. Now.

The Netball Development Trust needs volunteers to come to Uganda this summer (for a 2-week period between mid-June and mid-July - dates TBC) to work with us to deliver netball to about 500 amazing children. I've been there. It's amazing, inspiring and fun. It's hard work, rewarding and life-changing.

We offer kit and equipment to the schools, clubs and newly formed netball academy we work with, so they can continue to play in the local community once we leave. Much of this comes from donations from UK clubs from the kit amnesties England Netball help us with, and some we have to buy. One day we will have sponsors for each set of kit, but for now we volunteers need to help towards this.

Costs for the tour are £1500. This covers flights, transport, accomodation, in country costs and pretty much everything else. Fundraising is a relatively easy way to raise much of this so if it seems a lot to find, just ask us for advice.

Take a look at the photos of our three successful tours so far. The pictures show what a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity this is and the experience you can gain whilst travelling to Africa at the same time.

If you want to come on tour, please email Alternatively, if you know someone who may be able to help us in terms of sponsorship / kit / equipment /anything, do let us know.

Many thanks,
(Fusion NC)
