Four players sign plus another international transfer pending

by George Sessions

Ilford manager Allan Fenn is sure the Foxes have turned the corner after bringing various players to the club last week and watching the new additions shine during their 2-0 win against Tower Hamlets in the Essex Senior League.

The Cricklefield outfit have signed Luke McLeavy from Ryman North Romford and Aryan Rekoceri, Aziz Kanu and Elias Armah-Tackie from Aveley, another Ryman North team, all on six-week loans.

And central defenders McLeavy and Kanu contributed massively towards the win last weekend, which came following goals from Carl Mullins and Eden Nelson.

Fenn said: “Luke is a left-sided central defender who was superb on Saturday. Aziz was also excellent.

“They both made the world of difference. They won their headers, volleyed the ball away and didn’t let Hamlets have a shot on target.

“All four have settled in really well and have a great attitude. We have turned the corner now we have brought these players in.”

Fenn also revealed that the Foxes could have a former international player gracing their Cricklefield turf shortly.

He confirmed they have signed former Lithuanian under-21 captain Karolis Chvedukas, subject to international clearance.

“Karolis is an ex-pro in Lithuanian and we are just waiting for international clearance now,” said the Ilford boss.

“That should come in the next week or two.

“He has an excellent range of passing and is as strong as an ox. That will be a massive signing for us.

“I have good contacts and we have been able to get a few people in now. I know on our day we are capable of beating anyone.”

Ilford will hope they can show that form when they visit local rivals Barking, who remain undefeated in the league this season, on Saturday.

Fenn is gunning to beat them, adding: “It will be a huge game. They are a good side, they are good at the back and are physical.

“We know it will be tough, but we are quietly confident.

“We have big motivation to win. Firstly to end the undefeated run Barking are on and also to beat our local rivals.”
