Eton Manor 4 Greenhouse London 0 (at Broxbourne Borough FC)

Manor climbed above Greenhouse into 18th place after defeating them 4-0 at Broxbourne Borough's Goff Lane ground this evening. Manor took a 4th minute lead when a low ball in from the left was coverted from close range. The half was full of incident and the visitors did have the better of the half after that early goal from the home side creating a few half chances and forcing endless corners and having one of those cleared off the line as they looked to level the match. Manor wern't without their chances though and they had a couple of good efforts themselves and also had what looked like a stonewall penalty turned down, and from that appeal Greenhouse almost scored on the break, which would of rubbed salt into the wounds somewhat. Then just before half time Manor doubled their money when a great strike from outside the box went through a crowd of players and into the net. It was a bit harsh on the away side but it left them a mountain to climb as they went in two goals down at the break. The hosts very nearly made it three seconds into the second half when they headed over a golden opportunity but on 55 minutes it was three for the home side when Greenhouse makeshirt keeper dropped a harmless effort straight at the feet of an opposing player who gobbled up the gift which was giftwrapped with a bow on it. Well it is Christmas I suppose!!! With fifteen minutes remaining Manor made it 4-0 when Greenhouse's static defence allowed the hosts to run through and score easily and well and truly seal the three points. Soon after Greenhouse's makeshift stopper had to make a good save from the edge of the box to prevent a fifth for Manor and down the other end Greenhouse forced two good saves from Manor's keeper as they looked to grab a consolation. From the second save Manor broke down the other end and it looked for all the world it would be 5-0 but for a fine one handed save from the keeper. Greenhouse had one last effort before the end when a long range effort was tipped over and from the corner the keeper tipped over from underneath his own bar as Manor preserved their clean sheet, just. So Manor ran out 4-0 winners which was a bit harsh on the visitors although it was a deserved win for Manor in the battle of two of the ESL's strugglers.

The other scheduled ESL match this evening between London Bari and Enfield 1893
was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at The Old Spotted Dog Ground.
