Six second half goals see the visitors leave with all three points

Tower Hamlets 0 Stansted 6

Six second half goals saw Stansted win at a canter against a young Tower Hamlets side at Mile End last night. Hamlets started well and had a good chance on two minutes but Stansted keeper Reece Paine got down well to save the effort. On five minutes the visitors had their first effort when a ball into the box saw George Clarke free at back post but he shot wide. Stansted were now the better side and on nine minutes they had a great chance when another ball into box fell to Dave Ratcliffe but he could only shoot wide when well placed. Stansted had the ball in the net on 18 minutes from a header by Gary Rowntree but it was ruled out for offside. Hamlets then managed to get a foot on the ball and on 20 minutes a good move from the hosts saw their first effort blocked and the second one looped just past the far post. On 34 minutes a good effort from the edge of the box from the visitors was well saved by the Hamlets keeper and the follow up was somehow hit wide although the flag was up anyway. Hamlets finished the half strongly and on 37 minutes Reece Paine had to get down well to save an effort and then three minutes later more good football from the hosts saw a resultant header go wide. In first half stoppage time another strike at Stansted's goal was again just off target and the sides went in goal less at the interval. Half Time: Tower Hamlets 0 Stansted 0.

The second half was to be a totally different affair as the visitors began to stamp their authority. On 49 minutes they were awarded a penalty after a shirt pull just inside the box but Dave Ratcliffe's spot kick was brilliantly saved by the keeper. However the resulting corner from Dave Ratcliffe went straight in giving the away side the lead. This lead was doubled on 54 minutes when the ball broke to Gary Rowntree inside the box and his good finish beat the keeper for 2-0. The visitors were now rampant and on 63 minutes made it three when a free kick was headed home with ease by Callum Turner and it was four on 69 minutes when Callum Turner ghosted in behind a static Hamlets defence to finish from close range and grab his second of the game. Hamlets had a half chance on 71 minutes when they struck wide from long range but it was all Stansted and on 75 a long throw into the Hamlets box was headed over. Things got worse for the hosts when they were reduced to ten men on 76 minutes for dissent although they did whip a free kick just wide on 84 minutes as they looked to at least grab a consolation goal. However Stansted were to strike twice more before the close, firstly on 88 minutes when the visitors got in behind the Hamlets back line again and Callum Turner rounded the keeper and slotted home for his hat trick and secondly in stoppage time a ball struck in from inside box by Phil Siggins beat the keeper and went in for six although the ball did go through the net, causing some confusion in the crowd although it didn't matter by then as the game was already over as a contest. Final Score Tower Hamlets 0 Stansted 6.
