We started quite slow and found ourselves behind after 8 minutes when a break down the wing came across the box and found Ethan Penney at the back post to easily put into an empty net.
This woke us up and we started to play some good football, the middle three managed to get hold of the ball and pass it around and it paid off as we found ourselves level on 28 minutes. We were awarded a free-kick just inside our half, Nick Edwards floated a ball over the top of the Combe defence which striker John Ayres took down and put it into the Combe net.
Two minutes later, it got better for us when this time goalscorer John Ayres turned provider, his run down the right wing was crossed into the box and found winger Tom Gonzakes at the back post to head into an empty net putting us 2-1 up.
However, the lead didn't last long because a minute later we fell asleep and Combe were level again a ball over the top found Angus Ibbitson who put the past keeper Ash Bowerman.
Then in the 36th minute we found ourselves in front once again, A ball from Tom Radburn in the middle of the park was slid through to striker John Ayres to score his second of the game and put us 3-2 up.
Again we couldn't hold on to the lead and just before half time Dale Cronie struck back for Combe to level matters at three goals apiece.
Half-Time: Eynsham SSC 3-3 Combe
Again we started slowly and had to thank keeper Ash Bowerman for a couple of good saves.
In the 58th minute Combe had a great chance off taking the lead when they were awarded a penalty, Max Leach bought down Ethan Penney in the box and the referee pointed to the spot, the striker picked himself up to take the spot kick but Ash Bowerman guessed the right way and saving the spot kick.
Both teams were looking for the winner as both team created goalscoring opportunities but good saves from both keepers kept the scores level.
We made our only sub in the 70th minute when Dan Johnson came on for Tom Gonzales who had picked up an injury.
As the clock ticked down it looked as though it was going to end in a stalemate but in the 81st it all changed when a ball over the top from Tom Radburn found striker John Ayres who lobbed the out coming keeper and put into an empty net for his first Premier Division hat-trick.
Combe threw everything at it in the last ten minutes, but stern defending kept the score the same to clinch our first three points off the season.
Full-Time: Eynsham SSC 4-3 Combe
"A good game to watch as a neutral but nerve racking as a manager but it was good to get our first three points of the season. This group of lads gave it there all and I was really impressed with that. We got lucky at times but you will get that through the season, I thought the middle three all had decent games, keeper Ash Bowerman again was in fine form and central defender Ralph Rankin again impressed. It was good to see Tom Gonzales score his first goal for the club since his summer move from Hailey. My man of the match has to go to Captain and Striker John Ayres who lead from the front, scoring yet another hat trick for the club and has proven that he can score goals in all divisions."
