Back to the league with a trip to the Rocks

When and where?
Tytherington Rocks v Fairford Town
Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One West
Saturday 1st October 2016

What’s the story?
The trip to South Gloucestershire takes place on the opening day of next month with the Rocks having taken just one point from their opening six fixtures so far this term.

Team news…
Lee Smith will miss the game (work) whilst there are a host of selection options with Sam Ockwell returning to the line-up for last weekend's game. Chris Jackson also started the FA Vase tie whilst the likes of Danny Hale, Ben Saunders and Nathan Blackford are also in contention.

Last time out...
The Reds were 3-1 winners at Fleet Spurs in the FA Vase last Saturday. It's back to the league this time around, as Fairford go into the game in second place - six points behind leaders Hook Norton but with two games in hand.

We've met before...
The two teams last met in early January at Tytherington with a 6-0 away win recorded including a hat-trick from Jason Milhench.

A 4-0 win was secured at Cinder Lane earlier in the season thanks to a brace apiece from Luke Cordery and Matt Boucher.

Did you know?
In 1932 Tytherington Rocks F.C. was formed and joined The Bristol Suburban League, playing mostly in the second and third divisions until the beginning of the Second World War. Despite a shortage of kit and supplies Tytherington managed to raise a team during those years, playing in the Iron Acton & District League and later in the Wotton & District League. Ambrose Johnson was a Rock player in the 1930s and later in the 40s. He is the only one left alive from the 30s team to tell the story.
