Falkirk S1 and S2 teams were invited to one of the SRU Festivals in Alloa. The day consisted of two short games against Hillfoots and then a combined Alloa/Crieff team. None of the other teams had enough players to field teams at each age group so both games were mixed S1/S2.

Falkirk's first game was against Hillfoots and Falkirk started well with a try almost from the kick off. Falkirk dominated all areas of play in the first half (15 mins) scoring three good tries. In the second half Falkirk had enough players to change the backline completely and bring in three new players into the pack. It took a few minutes to settle into a structure and Hillfoots took advantage of that scoring a well worked try in the corner. However, Falkirk did settle and Hillfoots did not threaten the Falkirk line again. Falkirk scored two more tries to comfortably win.

The second game against Alloa/Crieff was straight after the first game and Falkirk started where they left off scoring some good tries from the forwards and backs. Crieff had one very big player and he was the focus of all their attacks. Some good tackling and closing down by the Falkirk players kept him from scoring, which was great to see. Again, Falkirk made a lot of changes througout the game but still scored 6 tries with none against.

Despite bringing the S1s and S2s together and not being used to playing alongside each other, Falkirk showed some great skills and were by far the strongest side on the day. Particular mention to the S1s who despite playing against some bigger S2's really got stuck in and never got dominated by the bigger boys. Well done to all.
