Without offering up any excuses at all,but at the same time putting
the current situation into perspective, through injury and
unavailability Falkirk were a good five or six players short of their
regular full strength side which took the field at Rubislaw in the
Granite City last weekend. It also has to be pointed out the two
division gap between the two sides, with Grammar currently lying 7th in
Premier Division One and the pace they played the game at was obvious
from the start, going about their business in a very clear and concise
way,and generally looking sharper all round and seemingly rooting
Falkirk to the spot. Blowing the visitors away a pretty
comprehensive all-round performance saw Grammar take a 47-0 lead at
the break through two tries from Morgan Ward and a try apiece from
Callum Anderson,Grant Walker,Murray Douglas,Pecili Nacamavuto,a
penalty try and six conversions from Alex Hagart. However a
determined and plucky start to the second period of play saw Falkirk
take the game to the home side, and following a ruck on the 5 metre
line Blind-Side-Flanker Tom Hobbs crashed his way over for a try, which
Alex Penman converted within 2 minutes of the restart. Again
catching Grammar on the hop another very similar passage of play saw
Will Hansen dive over for an unconverted try some 3 minutes later.
However Grammar added a further try from Will Wardlaw before Matt
Larson countered for Falkirk when he picked up from the base of a five
metre ruck and touchdowned successfully. Nevertheless Grammar went
on to stretch their lead even further with two further tries from
Callum Anderson, and both Tony McGuiness and Murray Douglas each added
tries of their own, with Alex Hagart converting four out of five second
half tries. Falkirk Team 1.Ihipa Thompson 2.David McGuire 3.Graeme
