Falkland 4ths suffered a disappointing 56 run defeat away to Finchampstead 5ths. A sound Falkland bowling and fielding display mostly kept the hosts in check on a good batting track, with Jared Ashworth bowling a long tight spell to claim 2 for 35 and Ryan Coventry nipping in with 2 for 24. Having been in danger at four wickets down with just over 100 on the board, Finch rallied well thanks to sound defence and calculated attack by R Brown (54) and A Woodroffe (63no). and they were able to bat out the maximum 52 overs to post 221 for 6.
Falkland’s early order batting capitulated against an ultra slow attack using the old ball with J Dewes bowling 22 overs unchanged to finish with 6 for 53 and youngster Josh Lincoln taking 3 for 43. Jared Ashworth was also in fine form with the bat and gave Falkland some hope but, apart from youngster Ben Green (14), no one else could stay with him for long enough to threaten the target. Ashworth unluckily missed out on a century , holing out on 94 and the tail soon folded as Falkland were dismissed for 155 in the 44th over.
