Youth leading the way at FCC.

Cricket Europe correspondent, and friend of ours, Willie Dick led his weekly league preview with Falkland CC where he reported on a mid season slump in form costing us and ending Falkland's spell at the top of the table, in a league we have been newly promoted to. A good reminder of where are and where we are going as a club.
Everyone's attention should be drawn to the team that took the field on Saturday 19th July where the club fielded the youngest 1st XI in recent times. In fact very likely to the youngest 1st XI ever to take the field, and at arguably the highest standard the club has ever played.
EVERY player bar one (Stuart Campbell - who himself is only mid 30's and has many good cricket years ahead of him) was under the age of 25 with the the majority Under 21 years of age.
It's fantastic to see the 'Young Team' getting their chance and competing. Saturday's game was unfortunately a short one having fallen foul of the weather but the vast majority of this team took the field last weekend against Stoneywood Dyce CC – a game we won!!
If you look through the 3 XI’s we have really good numbers of youngsters competing every weekend. It’s great to see and is to be congratulated. The selection committee, the clubs coaches and captains should all be applauded for their efforts.
The 1st XI are sitting in 5th in the Eastern Premier, 2nd XI sitting pretty at top of ESCA Div 3 and 3rd XI competing well in a league that includes many others clubs’ 2nd XI’s. All of these teams have plenty youngsters playing. Not a bad position to be in or a bad club to be involved in.
As always any new players young and old are welcome to come along and try cricket. Training continues on a Tuesday and Thursday evening with a 6.30pm start.
