Report by Tom Ritchie

Farsley AFC sealed a joyful Christmas after coming from 1-0 down to defeat Droylsden 2-1 as the festive football season got under way.

Farsley had the first clear cut chance of the game when Lewis Nightingale passed to Aiden Savory who had his shot pushed round the post by Russell Saunders. Farsley had another great chance moments later when Welsh's cross skimmed Savory's studs and fell to Nightingale whose tame effort was blocked on the line. Tom Taylor was then called into the action for the first time when he had to tip a searing drive from Ben Hampson over the bar. Droylsden took the lead when Kireon Kenny headed the ball over Farsley keeper Tom Taylor and into the net.

Early on in the second half The Bloods almost doubled their lead when Farsley keeper Tom Taylor fumbled the ball before saving Adam Morning's effort at point blank range. Farsley equalised midway through the second half when Robbie O'Brien tried to pick out Priestley, however his pass was deflected past the keeper and into his own net by Alistair Brown. Farsley had strong penalty appeals soon after when a Saunders miss-kick was seemingly controlled by the Droylsden players' arm. Farsley then scored what turned out to be the winner when Savory rounded the onrushing keeper Saunders and rolled the ball home from just inside the area. Farsley then had a chance to seal victory when Savory passed to Preistley who shot just wide.
