Speaking to FTFC TV, Ray praised the team for putting their bodies on the line to protect their lead following goals from Dan Carrington and Mark Lovell.
He said: "I'm disappointed that we've made it so difficult for ourselves. But I think what's showing is there's still a little bit of a lack of confidence, and we're hanging onto the lead rather than trying to score more goals.
"But the boys have responded really well in the last couple of months."
Speaking of the controversial off-side that ruled out a South Park equaliser in the dying seconds, Ray added: "I'm pretty sure it was. We've got just about what we deserved today. It's a really good win."
Ray also spoke about signing Harry Stannard on loan from Margate and gave an injury update on Renford Tenyue and Liam King.
