RAY Turner has paid tribute to Charley Robertson after confirming he has played his last game for the club before moving north to start a new life.

We all wish him the very best for the future.
- Ray Turner, Manager

Midfield ace Charley had been expected to leave in the summer after securing a new job in Chester.

But the fans' favourite returned for the start of the season to help out amid an injury and selection crisis.

Ray had hoped Charley would be able to stay for one final match against Cray Wanderers in the cup tomorrow.

But he has now had to relocate to the north west with his family and a swansong proved logistically impossible after being required to start his new job today.

Ray said: "He will now concentrate on getting a club in the area but will remain signed by us.

"It has been a pleasure working with Charley since his arrival from Maidstone.

"We have helped Charley become a much more rounded football player, balancing his natural attacking instincts with his defensive responsibilities required for the team.

"I suppose the easy memory for most supporters will be his winning goal in last season's play-off semi-final against Dorking Wanderers.

"I will take pride in seeing Charley develop as a person as well as a player, and we all wish him the very best for the future."

Charley first joined the club in November 2014 on a month's loan from Maidstone Utd and was an instant hit, scoring three goals in his seven games that month.

He then returned again the following January for the remainder of the season and joined again on a long-term loan at the start of the 2015/16 campaign.

He scored 12 goals from midfield, including a memorable hat-trick against Whitstable Town and the last-minute winner against Dorking that put the team through to the play-off final.
