“It's a big thank you.”
It is with a very heavy heart that I have written my last piece for the website. As many of you are aware, I rely heavily on my new wife Sandie to ferry me to and from football. Unfortunately her working schedule has changed, and as a result she can no longer fulfill those duties.
I have witnessed some marvellous moments from there - the win over Hythe in that incredible play off semi-final, as well as thumping Chatham 7-1 with goals that will live long in the memory.
There are a few people I have to thank before I ride off into the sunset, including everyone who took the time to come and see me in my privileged seat up there by the toilets. My thanks also go to Chairman Ray Leader and Club Secretary Wendy Walker, who have both encouraged me to keep going. Then there is every player that has worn the shirt and felt the sharp end of my tongue. Some of those players I understand are still undergoing therapy sessions!
So it's a big thank you to Bob, Joe, Dave, Ron and Graham. Eddie and Steve and all the ladies – Barbara, Patsy, Jean and of course the manager’s other half Ali. This is not a farewell and goodbye. It's more or less a “See you around.” I wish Ray and Clive at least half of the luck that followed me around in my career.
Good luck everyone!
