Ashford Athletic 4-2 Faversham Reserves ⚽️ Sheridan, ⚽️ Kurz

Defeat for Town

Faversham Town Reserves traveled to Ashford for the second time in two weeks this time taking on high-flyers Ashford Athletic in the Homelands Stadium. Town with a depleted squad due to injuries and players with more pressing commitments ? had only 12 available players to choose from. This included three new midweek signings Joe Lester, Will Davis and Max Gray in the starting line up. Towns wows worsened when Lilywhites centre half Casey Hayes pulled up with an injury during the warm up. Towns habit of conceding an early goal and chasing the game didn't alter as Ashford Athletic took the lead after 15mins a shot across Kipling the Town keeper who could only get a hand on it into the bottom corner of Faversham's goal. Considering half the team hadn't played together before Town where playing some good football and creating chances their endeavor paid of when Erwin Kurz cross from the right picked out Harry Sheridan unmarked in the Athletic area Harry controlled the ball and shot into the right hand bottom corner for a composed finish 1-1. In typical Reserves style after all their hard work in getting level Town conceded within two minutes of the restart it's enough to make you cry and laugh at same time. Town went into the break 2-1 down but like previous weeks plenty of believe that they can over turn the deficit. Towns front line of Joe Lester and Erwin Kurz caused the Ashford defensive plenty of problems Lester leading the line with a typical old school centre forward display winning his fair share of headers and holding the ball up worked well with Kurz pace and strength running in behind. Town had chances but so did Ashford and once again they converted theirs to go 3-1 up. One thing the Reserves have shown in their early days is they don't give up Erwin Kurz getting on the end of a ball splitting the Ashford defensive used his strength and pace holding of his marker to bear down on the advancing Ashford goal keeper Kurz squeezed the ball past the keeper into an empty net 3-2. Town pushed on for the equalizer Captain Dan King who lead from the front with another strong performance went from defensive to centre forward. With nothing to lose Town throwing cation to the wind and with only minutes left on the clock Athletic punished Towns gun hoe chase for a point with their fourth and final goal to kill of the Lilywhites hopes.

Town know what they have to do stop conceding early goals for a start there is plenty of promise within the camp
All in all a very good team performance from the young Lilywhites against a strong Ashford Athletic the three new signing's looked very good additions to the squad some good individual performances not to mention another M.O.M display from Ryan 'Macca' MacDonald.

Well done to Ashford Athletic they will be one of the contenders for the title.
