Town Get the better Deal

Faversham Town Reserves 2-1 Deal Rangers J Lester ⚽️ 28’ R Bedford 46’

Faversham Town Reserves welcomed
Deal Rangers to Sharsted Sports knowing they needed to up their game from their last league meeting between the two sides,Rangers running out with a comfortably 4-1 win. Town kicked off on a wet heavy Sharsted pitch and Faversham attacked their opponents from the outset. Good work down both flanks from the wide men,Callum Leader on the left and Reece Bedford on the right, both seeing plenty of the ball and creating chances for Town. For all Town’s early pressure it was Deal Rangers who made the breakthrough on 11 minutes. The Deal striker beating the offside to race clear, Town keeper Ellis Woods committed and catching the Deal player with the faintest of touches, for a penalty to be awarded. Woods was making his return between the Faversham sticks after his spell at Kent Youth level for Town . He was unlucky watching his outstretched save from the Penalty come back off the post in the path of the penalty taker to score into the empty net-0-1 to Deal Rangers.
Town were not fazed by the early set back knowing their good start could bring them back into the game. Rhys Leader and Harry Sheridan getting plenty of ball in midfield and Max Gray making headway down the left, linking up well with Callum Leader causing Deal plenty of problems. Town found the Deal keeper in good form making a string of saves but Town kept the pressure up and were rewarded after 28 minutes, Captain Rhys Leader winning the ball on the edge of the Deal area. The ball found Callum Leader who
retrieved it on the bi-line near the left corner flag. Leader then played it back to the supporting Joe Lester who took a touch into the box and hit his shot low across goal into the bottom corner , 1-1 Good finish from Lester.
Town went into the half time break level, regretting their missed chances-Town could, and should have had a big lead.

HT 1-1

Towns disappointment only lasted seconds of the re start. A shot from the right angle of the area from Callum Leader was blocked but Reece Bedford pounced to win the ball, and with a delicate half volley sent it over the keeper and into the top corner, 2-1 to Town.
Deal pushed for an equaliser which opened the game up. Reece Bedford made way for Siyabonga Ndebele who came off the bench to give Town more legs in midfield on the heavy pitch. Siya getting on the ball at every opportunity and putting Town on the attack with a classy display. Town looked for a third goal, playing some neat passing between Max Gray and Lester down the left side. Lester cut in to see his shot saved by the impressive Deal Keeper. Dan King and C Leader made way for Casey Hayes and Will Davis. Davis added some composure in midfield with some Fabregas passing. Town see the game out for a 2-1 win.

Some very good performers on the day Rhys Leader and Harry Sheridan in midfield, Max Gray and Jordan Holliday worked hard on both flanks the defence of Griffths, King and Macca kept Rangers at bay. The front line of Bedford, Lester and C Leader put Deal on the back foot for most of the game. Harry Sheridan had a good claim for M.O.M but it has to go to Joe Lester-tireless work from the big man led the Faversham line superbly, didn’t give the Deal defence a moments rest.

Thank you to Deal Rangers for a good game and good luck for the rest of the season
