Club News update

The executive committee had a meeting with Ivan from the RFU to review our Club Accreditation in July. One item that came up was how we as a committee get the minutes of our meetings back to all the club members. This was discussed on Thursday 17th Aug at the monthly executive meeting and it was decided that we would publish a monthly newsletter. Hopefully this will keep everyone informed as to what’s going on with the club.
Socials
The junior and senior social committee are working on hosting a skittles night, probably in late September after the season has started. So please watch out for future posts on that.
The senior section will be holding a player’s meeting on the 2nd of September to discuss the season ahead. The time and place will be notified soon.
A little further ahead is our Christmas Charity match. Due to the way the Christmas holiday period is this year, it has been decided that we will host this match on Saturday 30th December in order to get the maximum numbers attending this event.
Newlands Park
For the past few months we have been in talks with the RFU about the floodlight project, we are close to reaching an agreement with them. As such we will need to raise substantial funds as a club in order for them to be installed. (somewhere in the region of £25K to £30K) It is hoped that the installation will start at the end of the 2017/2018 season.
As most of you will know we have now installed 2 x 40ft containers to house all our equipment by the rugby pitches. We have now submitted a planning application for a third smaller welfare container. We are hoping to have this in place in September/October all being well.
The club house planning application is with the architect now, to get the drawing right prior to submitting the planning application.
Rugby Development
We are considering hosting a Ruck and Maul course at Fawley RFC along with other coaching courses. So, if you are interested in becoming a coach either Junior or senior please let Paul Patrick know.
As part of the RFU All Schools Program, the RFU will be hosting several games at Fawley RFC on 9th Oct, 18th Oct and 30th Oct. As such if anyone is free to come along and promote the club at these events please let us know.
Junior rugby
The Junior rugby season will start again on the 3rd of September, so get all the kit washed and ready for the new season.
For some of the away matches there might be the possibility of hiring Gang Warily’s mini bus. Paul Patrick will let you know the details later.

Senior Rugby
The seniors are well into their pre-season training programme. The first game on 9th September will see our 2nds XV away at Portsmouth 4ths XV. The first game for our 1st XV will be the 23rd September against Southsea Nomads XV.
AOB
We have 2 new staff members join the executive committee.
As you may know Steve Leggett is standing down from his role as Club President and has paved the way for Ray Lewis to take over in this role. Peter Gascoigne has now taken up the post as our new Sponsorship secretary. Good luck to you both.

Please don’t hesitate to contact any of the executive committee if you have any suggestions, worries or would like to get involved.
