The Lions are on tour and as we speak unfortunately lost to the Auckland Blues who have become the first New Zealand Super Rugby team to ever beat the British and Irish Lions.
With four more matches before the First Test against the All Blacks on the 24th June we will need to work even harder, and reduce the mistakes!
However, in 1971 the British Lions toured New Zealand, also lost a match to Queensland, however the Lions went on to win the Test series against the and are still the only Lions side to have won a Test series in New Zealand!
Two of the main players in those tests David Duckham and Gareth Edwards, are going to join our Rugby Lunch where they will speak about that amazing achievement and on our current Lions.
So, don’t miss our Lions’ Rugby Lunch.
The lunch is on Friday 30th June the day before the Lions second test in Wellington. Arrival for 11:45, the lunch will be held at the Novotel, Southampton and we expect the lunch to finish around 3pm, with doors closing at 5pm.
Tickets are £55 each or a table of 10 is £500.
What better time to meet with another 200-likeminded people for the love of the sport of Rugby, a few glasses of wine and some excellent speakers.
Former Welsh and British Lion, Gareth is widely considered the best Welsh rugby player of all time. He is one of only two Welshmen to have won three Grand Slams.
Former English and British Lion, David played 36 times for England between 1969 and 1976, his game was marked by pace, swerves, sidesteps and an ability to wrong-foot his opponents.
The event will be hosted by the wonderful Tim Titheridge who has been a huge supporter of the charity.
It will be a great afternoon with a range of “New Zealand” wines available a small raffle and auction.
